Abstract:
In order to study on the characteristic of the inter-annual variation of the SST in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea and East China Sea as a whole, the relationship between the characteristic of the inter-annual variation of SST and the East-Asian monsoon was probed. Using EOF method with the SST data from Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) in the NOAA polar-orbiting satellite, the significant inter-annual variation in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea and East China Sea has been analyzed in winter and summer. We found that SST has a notable variation period of 5 years in winter and 4 years in summer. And we explored the effect of the inter-annual change of the Asian monsoon field on the change of SST and found that in winter El Ni?o year has a weaker Asian winter monsoon than La Ni?a year while SST is higher in EL Ni?o year than that in La Ni?a. In summer, the Asian summer monsoon in EL Ni?o year is weaker than that in La Ni?a year and so is SST but not as obvious as in winter.
