THE DETERMINATIONS OF FIVE IMPORTANT RADIOISOTOPES IN SURFACE SEDIMENT IN JIAOZHOU BAY
Abstract:
The contents and intensity of U, Ra, Th, 40K and 137Cs in surface sediments in Jiaozhou Bay were determined with 8180-4K Multichannel Ge(Li)γ spectrometer in 1985. The mean value and intensity of five isotopes is 1.48 x 10-6 g/(g.d.w), 7.88×10-13 g/(g.d.w), 10.85×10-6 g/(g.d.w), 2.76×10-6 g/(g.d.w) and 159pCi/kg, respectively. Their distribution is uniform in sediment of Jiaozhou Bay. The variation of concentration is mainly related to grain size of sediment and biological activity in sediment. In generally, the concentration of U is lower in this region than in other region in China Seas, the concentration of Ra, Th and U is higher in port zone than in other zone in Jiaozhou Bay. The pollution of 137Cs is serious jn sediment of Jiaozhou Bay than in the open sea.
