13C-NMR STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF THE POLYSACCHARIDE FROM PORPHYRA HAITANENSIS
Abstract:
Both hot water extracted and alkali treated polysaccharides from Porphyra haitanensis were fractionated with DEAE Sephadex A-50 column and some fractions eluted were analyzed by using 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The 13C-NMR spectrum of the hot water extracted polysaccharide indicates porphyran linked by (1→3)-β-D-galactosyl-(1→4)-α-6-S04-L-galactose is the major component, and that of the alkali treated polysaccharide is actually an agar with the agarose structure composed of agarobiose reacting unit.
