THE BREEDING AND UTILIZATION OF A NEW VARIETY OF HAIDAI (LAMINARIA JAPONICA ARESCH.)
Abstract:
A method of hybridizing two varieties of Haidai, №860 and №1170., is proposed in this paper. Through inbreeding and selecting, a hybrid of Haidai was obtained and named Haiza №1. Its main Characteristics are: the frond has wider and thicker middle lamina and matures earlier than №1170 and is longer than №860. In 1980, extensive work has been carried out in Changdao, Shandong province. The experiment shows that the production of Haiza №1 is 12% higher than №860 and №1170. The experiment group in 67 mu is 10.6% higher in production than the control. The Large scale production, 12060 mu, of Haiza №1 increased 6.1%.
