Abstract: |
Currently, conventional methods for marine surveying mainly include electronic charts, single-beam and multi-beam systems, side-scan sonar, and so on. The individual use of these methods has limitations such as sparse data samples, high construction costs, and difficulty in obtaining accurate depths. Scientific fish finders based on the principle of ultrasound echo are widely used in fisheries resource investigation and assessment. They are the main statistical tools in the field of fisheries, characterized by large data volume, abundant sources, and low collection costs. In addition to characterizing the quantity and orientation of fish schools, ultrasound echo data also carry information about seabed topography and seawater temperature and salinity structures. Therefore, they can complement conventional marine surveying methods. In particular, high-precision water body data obtained after decoding can be used for marine geophysical research. Therefore, there is an urgent need for decoding work on scientific fish finder data. In this paper, we focus on the decoding processing of data collected by the SIMRAD EK80 scientific fish finder. Based on the analysis of the header information, we achieve reclassification of data files and extract data related to positions, sample point energy values, and other information relevant to the field of marine geophysics for analysis and research. The aim is to enrich the data sources for marine geophysical research, provide references for conventional marine surveying work, and enhance the efficiency of data utilization. |
