| A PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF NITRATE CONTENT IN THE BEIBU-GULF |

| Abstract: |
| The nitrate content distribution measurement in the Beibu-Gulf was carried out in April, July, October in 1983 and January in 1984. The results showed that the distributions of nitrate content in the estuary is obviously higher than in the coastal waters. Vertically, content in the surface is higher than in the bottom in the estuary, whereas uniform distributions are found in the shallow sea. The distributions of the N/P (i.e, the atomic rate between nitrate and phosphate) are very much similar to that of nitrate. The seasonal variations of nitrate content are maximum during summer months in the estuary but autumn-winter in the shallow sea, which were caused by the continental run off and the stemming of nitrate from the seabottom respectively. |
