| EFFECT OF TYPHOON ON THE SEDIMENTATION IN TONGSHA DREDGED CHANNEL IN CHANGJIANG RIVER ESTUARY |

| Abstract: |
| Tongsha dredged channel of South Passage has been the main sea lane through-Changjiang River estuary since 1975. Aiter typhoon Forrest swept through the coastal area of Shanghai in Sept. 1983, sedimentation in Tongsha dredged channel turned rapidly from bad to worse as evidenced by larger quantity and higher rate. An attempt has been made to find correlation between the rate of sedimentation in each segment of dredged channel and wind parameter, ΣVsinθ, and set up the related regression equations. Here V is the wind velocity (m/s), θ is the angle from wind direction to channel axis. |
