Abstract:
Qin Yunshan, Senior Scientist, Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica. Male, born in Shandong Province on June 1, 1933. Graduated from Beijing College of Geology in 1956. Director of the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica; Director of the Chinese Society of Oceanology and Limnology, Editor of “Geology of Bohai Sea” (Science Press, 1985) and “Geology of East China Sea" (Science Press, 1988). He published in various Chinese and world journals more than 50 papers, such as “Primary study on the relief and sediment type of the continental shelf of China” (Oceanologia et Limnologia Sinica, 1963); “Buried paleoriver systems in the western part of South Huanghai Sea" (Kexue Tongbao, 1986); “Study on suspended matter in sea water in the Southern Yellow Sea” (Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology, 1988, in English). His major research interests are in sedimentation, sediment type, distribution pattern and sediment composition of China Shelf Sea. From these investigations, the sedimentation model of the China Shelf Sea and its distribution map have been compiled. _His other interests include suspended matter in sea water, geohazard phenomena in the sea bed and marine Quaternary geology. The Chinese Academy of Science awarded him a second prize for his work “Geology of the Bohai Sea" (1986) and a first prize for his “Geology of the East China Sea” (1988).
