海洋化学家──宋金明研究员

摘要:
宋金明,男,1964年4月出生,河北枣强人,汉族。1985年毕业于长春地质学院(现长春科技大学),其后在中国科学院海洋研究所获得海洋学硕士和博士学位。现任中国科学院海洋研究所海洋化学研究室副主任、研究员,并兼任中国海洋湖沼学会海洋化学分会常务理事兼秘书长。多年来,宋金明研究员一直从事海洋生物地球化学及海洋沉积物一海水界面化学研究,主持和参与完成的有国家自然科学基金项目、中国科学院重大项目、国家攻关项目等7项,正在进行研究的有国家海洋863项目、国家九五攻关项目等5项,涉及生源要素的海洋生物地球化学过程、海洋生态环境监测高新技术等领域。他在化学海洋学上的主要成果有:(l)提出了定量评价海洋沉积物氧化还原特性的标准──氧化还原度(ROD),并用于海洋腐蚀环境调查研究。(2)通过对珊瑚礁生态系的系统研究,提出了维持珊瑚礁生态系高生产力原因的新观点──拟流网理论,即热带相对固着的生物组成的生物化学反应器大量富集外海寡营养水中的营养物质,并在其内快速循环,这是珊瑚礁生态系维持高生产力的根本原因;并提出了珊瑚礁内非生源要素的垂直转移只要是由生物过程来完成的。(3)系统研究了中国近海沉积物-海水界面化学过程,提出了一系列研究海洋沉积物-海水界面化学的新方法。

Abstract:
Dr. Song Jinming was born in Hebei Province, April 1964, and graduated from Changchun University of Earth Sciences (now Changchun University of Science and Technology) in 1985. He obtained his Master and Doctorate Degrees in Oceanography at the Institute of Oceanology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS). Now, he is a Research Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Marine Chemistry, IOCAS. He is also the secretary-general of the Marine Chemistry Division of the CHINESE Society for oceanology and limnology. Dr. Song has been involved in marine biogeochemistry and sediment-water interface process studies for more than 10 years, through 12 research programs funded by NSFC, CAS, the National Major Research Program( NMRP) and the National High Technology Program (863). In the studies on the biogeochemical processes of biogenic elements and monitoring technology for marine environments and ecosystems, his main scientific contributions include: (1) the establishment of a quantitative standard of redox environment in marine sediment, Redox Degree (ROD), which has been applied to the study of marine corrosion environments; (2) the proposal of a hypothesis i.e. the “Darft drift-net theory” on the basis of coral reef ecosystem studies about the causes of high productivity supporting coral reef ecosystem, which suggests that the special biochemical reactor making up relatively fixed tropical organisms enriches a large amount of nutrients for the out-reef oligotrophic water and the nutrients can rapidly recycle in coral reef lagoons; (3) a systematic study on the chemical process of marine sediment-water interface in China seas and development of new methods of the chemistry of marine sediment-water interfaces. Dr. Song published 68 scientific papers, 4 monographs and 3 popular science books, , and …His book, “Chemistry of Sediment-Seawater Interface in China seas”, was awarded the third-class Natural Science Prize of CAS in 1998. He also won a first-class Award and third-class Award of the science and technology progress (1996), a second-class Award of the Natural Sciences (1992), together with the “Award of Science and Technology of Shandong Province” and the “Award of Young Scientists of China” in 1998.
