盐藻和β-胡萝卜素研究述评

摘要:
养殖盐藻生产β-胡萝卜素是近十几年新兴起的研究领域,因其应用前途广内,现已成为微藻生物学的研究前沿和热点,预计本世纪末和下世纪初将有更大发展。鉴于我国在这方面文章不系统、不全面,本文从盐藻生物学、养殖学、β-胡萝卜素异构体、β-胡萝卜素形成生理等角度全面概述了该领域的研究现状,并提出存在的问题与研究方向。

A STUDY REVIEW OF DUNALIELLA SALINA AND ITS β-CAROTENE

Abstract:
As β-carotene, the precursor of vitamin A, can improve eyesight at night, provide nutrition for the skin, has potential anti-cancer and ant-ageing functions, and can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular diseases, it (natural β-carotene especially) is now in great demand.

The culture of Dunaliella salina for producing β-carotene as a hot research area in micro-algal biology, was detailedly studied in the past decade and will be greatly developed in the 1990’s and the next century.

The studies covered 1) the biology and culture of D. salina, to 2) β-carotene isomers, and 3) the physiology of β-carotene accumulation. This paper points out some existing problems and future potential research fields to include (1) kinetics of β-carotene formation induced by changing environmental factors, (2) establishment of optimized models for cell growth, for producing β-carotene and its cis isomers, (3) effects of phytohormones and plant growth regulators (especially ABA and the other growth inhibitors) on β-carotene accumulation, (4) β-carotene biosynthetic pathways and their key enzymes, and (5) the physiological functions of β-carotene accumulation. `
