| Collonia donghaiensis sp. nov.
Holotype No. V469A-5, Height 8 mm, breadth 8.5 mm; East China Sea, 27°30'N,126°00"E; bottom fine sand, 162 m deep: 10, Oet. 1975.
Paratype No. V521A-2, Height, 2mm, 1.5 mm; breadth 1.5 mm. 1 mm; East China Sea,27°30′N,125°00′E; bottom fine sand,107 m deep;28,Aug.1976.
Both the holotype and paratype of this new species are preserved in the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica.
Shell is subglobular in shape, rather depressed, whorls 5-6. Surface smooth,bright rose red in colour. Inside of the aperature is white, outer margin of the aperture is rather smooth. Operculum bears a central pit and numerous granules. Umbilicus circular, profound, smooth within the margin. Callus is somewhat triangular in shape.There are 8-10 subquadrate white.patches round the umbilicus, which is very perspicuous.
The present new species is easily separated from other species of the genus by its subquadrate white patehes round the umbilicus. |
