Abstract:
A variety of disaster geological features are developed at the shelf edge of the Qiongdongnan Basin. Based on the shipborne survey data, AUV survey data and 3D seismic data, this paper precisely characterizes the disaster geological features within the water depth range of 100~250m in the study area, and analyzes their causes and controlling factors. After analysis, the disasters in the study area are classified into two major categories: submarine disaster factors and shallow disaster geological factors. Among them, submarine disaster factors include submarine bulges, submarine pockmarks, ancient coast, submarine scarps and sand waves; shallow disaster geological factors include active faults and shallow buried channels. Through analysis, it is believed that the disaster geological factors at the shelf edge of the Qiongdongnan Basin are mainly controlled by sea level changes, tectonic activities and sediment supply factors. Residual ancient coast, sand waves, submarine scarps and shallow buried channels are mostly related to sea level changes, while active faults, submarine bugles and submarine pockmarks are more controlled by regional tectonic activities. Affected by the sediment supply, the eastern part of the study area is more prone to develop coastal features dominated by carbonate coasts and carbonate platforms, while the western part is more likely to develop features related to terrigenous sediments such as sand waves and shallow buried channels.
